Dear Park United members and friends,
As we begin the new academic year in the midst of the pandemic, I thought it might be helpful to offer a means to connect a Bible study with what I am preaching. I asked the elders
which they would prefer to hear next preached upon: Exodus or the parables of Jesus. The overwhelming response was the parables.
In my preaching, I will follow the order of lessons in the IVP LifeGuide Bible Study, Parables: The Greatest Stories Ever Told by John White. This Bible study guide can be picked up on
Amazon in paperback or Kindle format. (For those unfamiliar with Amazon, if you would like me to pick you up a copy, please call the church office.).
I also invite one and all to participate in a regularly scheduled virtual discussion via Zoom each Tuesday at 10 am or 7pm beginning September 8th and running through November.
Already established Bible studies are more than welcome to participate with this series as well if they so desire.
In order to allow the Holy Spirit to flow freely within our discussions and learning, I will preach on the parable lesson on the Sunday following the class lesson. I don’t want to “prime the pump” so to say. Also, I look forward to hearing and learning from our discussions as I prepare my weakly sermon. I have provided a lesson schedule and the Zoom instructions below. As one parishioner reminded me the other day: Although Covid-19 has caused some changes in our learning and planning, we are not going to let the devil use it as an excuse to keep us from being the people of God. I say “Amen” to that! Please join us as we learn together from these timeless lessons of our Lord Jesus.
